ALI B’S WEEKLY SATURDAY AT PARADISE, LONDON
ALI B AT BUSH DOCTORS MEDICINE SHOW
I’m really looking forward to playing at this party. It’s run by two legends; Rennie Pilgrem and Jem Panufik who is best known as one half of Soul Of Man and the creative talent behind all of the Finger Lickin’ artwork hence the dope flyer! Musically we’re all going to be on a funk tip that night which is gonna be a lot of fun. I’m also looking forward to checking out this new venue in West London with it’s Function One Sound System as I haven’t been there before. The Freestylers played the month before and said it was off the chain…

ALI B LIVE RECORDING FROM BURNING MAN 2008
The Opulent Temple is the sound camp I’ve been part of at Burning Man for the last few years, acting as their UK connection. I’ve put on various fundraisers this side of the pond at venues in London including Fabric & Cargo which have been a lot of fun. They have just featured my set from The Opulent Temple, Burning Man 2008 on their podcast which you can grab here. It made me get a bit teary eyed when I listened to this as it literally made me want to be back there again. The theme that year was ‘Patriotism’ so I ended my set with an edit I’d made of Jimi Hendrix ‘Star Spangled Banner’ followed by the Soulwax remix of The Rolling Stones ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’ which sounded great on the Playa. I cannot wait to be back home in Black Rock City later this year… |
